Spring for Susannah by Catherine Richmond

Spring for Susannah is a simple, romantic story that begins with trouble. Susannah is sent across the country to live with a man she doesn’t know.  The story takes place in the 1800s in the Dakota Territory. Her life on the prairie is much different than her delicate lifestyle back in the city. 

You can’t help but feel sympathy for Susannah’s character. She is shy, lacks confidence, and has lost her faith in God. If I was in her position, experiencing the perils of prairie life, I would have given up and went home. This book is an adventure from beginning to end. You see how Jesse comes to understand his new wife and meet her needs. You ride along as Susannah finally lets Jesse into her heart, and also lets her Savior back in. 

This is a great book to curl up with on a cold day, or any day, for that matter. Catherine Richmond is a new author who truly captures the heart of the West during this period of time. All of the characters in the book are interesting and believable.  If you're a romantic, you will love this book!
