How I Use Essential Oils in Daily Life

Essential oils have become a part of our daily lives since I began using them a couple of years ago. It seems that I am always finding new ways to use oils. I thought I would share with you how we use oils in our daily lives.

Disclaimer:
  • I'm not an expert. I don't know everything about oils and have much to learn.
  • I will not buy from companies who have a "pyramid" type scheme of selling. I have no allegiance to any one brand, but only promote oils that I use & love.
  • I have done lots of research on the companies I buy from and am certain they are of the highest quality.
  • This post should not be taken as medical advice.
  • Use essential oils at your own risk.

I started using oils a few years ago with no idea of what I was doing. I did some research, and just dived in head first! I began by ordering a set of basic oils. These sets are very reasonable and a great way to build your collection.

Essential Oil Gift Set #3

One of my first attempts as a newbie was making my own cleaners! This basic set had just about everything I needed. I love the disinfecting properties of tea tree oil and lemon; in fact I use these two in my favorite all-purpose spray. I spray my counters down with this stuff, and use it much like you would Clorox wipes, when there's nasty germs floating around. I also clean the bathrooms with it. You can see the recipe here.

I also use essential oils in my foaming hand soap dispensers. I switch the oils up often. I like using tea tree, of course, but sometimes I switch it up with Four Thieves or a Purify blend. I usually combine it with a little castille soap. I only use a little bit so it lasts a long time. I usually buy unscented.

I have a little pouch that I keep my most loved roller bottles in. All of the oils in my roller bottles are diluted with fractionated coconut oil to a certain percentage (depends on the oil).

This pouch holds the following:

1. Headache (mix of lavender & peppermint)

Great for dizziness, headache, or stomach problems; I even use it at night if I'm having trouble sleeping. Peppermint is great for so many things!

2. Bites & Boo-boos (lavender)

We use for any kind of skin problem: bites, scratches, stings, sores, etc.

3. No Worry (Available here)

Put a little on anytime really, especially if you want to relax; also great to use in my essential oil necklace. I love the smell.

4. Tummy (blend: available here)

Our son had bad stomach troubles last winter. This blend helped him through some rough times. Great for nausea or pain.

5. Immune (blend: available here)

Roll some on when you head out the door; helps ward away sickness

6. Breathe

I used Respiratory Ease and roll it on myself occasionally. I have asthma and it helps with my breathing problems.

This pouch sits readily available for use on my kitchen counter most of the time, and when I head out the door, I throw it in my purse. It is really a good size! I found the one I ordered on Amazon, but it is not available in the zebra print now.
I recently decided to try making some inhalers. I ordered a multi-color pack on Amazon, and decided to make my first one with Eucalyptus, in case anyone ended up with a cold this winter. Well, guess who ended up with a cold/flu three days later? ME!!! I was so stopped up at night, and add in my asthma...it was miserable. I would stick the inhaler up to my nose for a few minutes, and it would loosed things up so I could blow my nose!

I was so glad I had made it. All I did was put a few drops of Eucalyptus on the wick and put the inhaler back together. I have to say, it is pretty strong. Eucalyptus has a menthol smell, great for sinus trouble.

I also use my diffuser several times a week. I always make sure to diffuse oils that are kid-safe. Plant Therapy and Eden's Garden have a kid safe line available now and they are my go-to when I get ready to order new ones!

The #1 oil you will find in my diffuser?????

Kidsafe Immune Boom (the smell is a little strong, so I cut it with some lemon). It helps keep us healthy and is safe for the little ones.

I bought this diffuser last year and it sits in my living room. I love it because it alternates on and off throughout the day. It also has cool lights you can turn on (or not). It will automatically kick off when the water is low. I just add a few drops of oils to the water and turn it on!

What's on my wishlist right now?

Holiday Season Synergy Essential Oil 10 mLVein-Aid Synergy Essential Oil 10 mL   I am ready for that lovely Christmas smell in my house. Although we don't official decorate until after Thanksgiving. I am already Christmas shopping, and maybe this will push me forward with it!
I have those pesky little veins that pop occasionally in my legs. I am ready to try this stuff and see if it works.
Zit Fighter Synergy Essential Oil 10 mL
I remember as a teenager thinking I would be glad to grow up so I didn't have zits anymore. :) Well, my bubble was busted very quickly! Not only could I use this, but my 15 years old son also.
